Halifax is one of Canada’s oldest cities, and with that comes ageing water and sewer infrastructure that needs renewal.
Over the next 30 years, Halifax Water plans to invest about $4 billion to upgrade infrastructure to ensure the continued delivery of high-quality water, wastewater and stormwater services to benefit our customers and the environment. Below are some of the projects currently underway at Halifax Water.
Hemlock Reservoir Project
In spring 2020, Halifax Water, through its contractor, will begin construction of a new water storage reservoir to better serve your community. The new water reservoir will be constructed at Halifax Water’s existing property on Masthead Court in Bedford.
Federal, Romans & McAlpine Avenue Sewer Separation
Beginning the week of April 13th, 2020, Halifax Water and the Halifax Regional Municipality will be upgrading infrastructure on Federal Avenue, Romans Avenue, and McAlpine Avenue. Dexter Construction has been contracted to perform this work.
