Halifax Water is proud to offer it's customers the opportunity to obtain assistance when they need it. Get help paying for your Halifax Water bill when you qualify for the H2O Fund, keep water flowing to your rental units even when they are empty or get the lead out without going broke!
Financial Assistance Program - H2O Fund
The H2O (Help to Others) Fund is a water, wastewater, and stormwater assistance fund that can be used by Halifax Water residential customers who are having a hard time making their bill payments. Approved applicants will receive assistance once in a 24-month period to a maximum of $275.00.
The Lateral Loan
The Lateral Loan program was launched on May 1, 2018. It was created to help those Halifax Water customers who need to replace their private lateral but cannot afford or cannot secure a loan with their banking institution to pay for the replacement. The Lateral Loan can also be used for lead service line replacements.
Wastewater Rebate
A Customer who uses more than 1,000 m3 of water in a one year period may be eligible for a wastewater rebate if they can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of Halifax Water, that the volume of wastewater discharged into the wastewater system is less than the volume of water used.
The wastewater rebate is based on the difference between the amount of the water used and the amount of wastewater discharged to the Halifax Water system.
The wastewater rebate, for qualified applicants, must be applied for on an annual basis.
