As part of our ongoing commitment to communicating with customers and the local community, Halifax Water would like to inform you that we are replacing a section of the water main that runs along Langevin Drive and Skyridge Avenue. This work is part of the utility's 30-year, $4 billion investment commitment to improving aging water, wastewater and stormwater systems.
Dexter Construction will be completing this project on behalf of Halifax Water. The safety of staff, contractors and the public is our top priority during this work.
Typical hours of work will be 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday to Friday. This project is expected to continue until mid summer 2024.
This work will involve excavation in the street to install the new water main and excavation in the right of way to replace/reconnect the public sections of water service laterals. Following pipe installation, the work areas will be restored – including repaving the impacted sections of the street and any impacted property. See the attached map for the entire project area. Traffic control personnel will be on-site during this construction to manage traffic flows.
Some customers near this work will be connected to a temporary water supply system to maintain water service during this work. A separate communication will be shared with those customers. During this work, customers in the project area may experience temporary water service disruptions. The contractor will provide advance notice to the impacted customers for any planned water service interruptions. Wastewater and stormwater services will continue throughout this work.
