Halifax Water is the municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater utility serving the residents of the Halifax region.
It serves over 83,000 customer connections and employs around 450 people. Halifax Water is a joint stock company with all of its shares deemed to be owned by the Halifax Regional Municipality.
Halifax Water operates three large state-of-the-art, ISO 14001 Certified, water supply plants and six modern smaller community supply plants to provide water to 360,000 customers throughout the Halifax Municipality.
Water that has been used in your home, business, or as part of an industrial process is now waste. The wastewater system refers to the structures, pipes, devices, equipment, processes and related equipment used to collect, transport, pump or treat wastewater.
Halifax Water provides stormwater services to thousands of customers throughout Halifax Regional Municipality. For some this means ditches and culverts, for others, it means curbs, catchbasins, and underground stormwater pipes. All of this stormwater infrastructure is maintained by Halifax Water to help prevent flooding and property damage.
