As part of our ongoing commitment to communicating with customers and the local community, Halifax Water would like to inform you that we are completing a water main extension on Walter Havill Drive, between Dunbrack Street and Stone Gate Drive. This work is part of the utility's 30-year, $4 billion investment commitment to improving aging water, wastewater and stormwater systems.
Sackville Trenching Limited will be completing this project on behalf of Halifax Water. The safety of staff, contractors and the public is our top priority during this work.
To ensure the safety of our communities and our staff, please maintain a safe distance when Halifax Water staff or contractors are working in your area.
This work will begin the week of May 27, 2024, with the project expected to be completed in July 2024. Typical hours of work will be 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
This work will involve excavation in the street to install the new water main and excavation in the right of way. Following pipe installation, the work areas will be restored – including repaving the impacted sections of the street and any impacted property. See the attached map for the entire project area. Traffic control personnel will be on-site during this construction to manage traffic flows.
During this work, customers in the project area may experience temporary water service disruptions. A separate communication will be shared with those customers. The contractor will provide advance notice to the impacted customers for any planned water service interruptions. Wastewater and stormwater services will continue throughout this work.
