Dingle Forcemain Replacement

This work is taking place on Parkhill Road, Halifax

As part of our ongoing commitment of communicating with customers and the local community, Halifax Water would like to inform you that we will be completing a wastewater forcemain replacement on Parkhill Road. This work is part of the utility's 30-year, $4 billion investment commitment to improving aging water, wastewater and stormwater systems.

Harbour Construction will be completing this project on behalf of Halifax Water. The safety of staff, contractors and the public is our top priority during this work.

To ensure the safety of our communities and our staff, please maintain a safe distance when Halifax Water staff or contractors are working in your area.

What to Expect

Typical hours of work will be approximately 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.  Preparation work will start in late July and the project is expected to continue into October.

This work will involve excavation in the street to install the new wastewater forcemain. Following pipe installation, the work areas will be restored – including repaving the impacted sections of the street and any impacted property. See the map below for the project area.

Traffic control personnel will be on-site during this construction to manage traffic flows. Driveway access will be reduced during construction. The contractor will coordinate as construction continues.

The Sir Sanford Fleming Park Boat Launch will be temporarily closed during the weekday for approximately two weeks from August 19th, 2024 to August 30th, 2024 to allow for the work to be completely safely.

Wastewater and stormwater services will continue throughout this work as a temporary bypass system will be installed.
