Major Halifax Water Projects

The major construction projects Halifax Water is currently undertaking

Halifax is one of Canada’s oldest cities, and with that comes ageing water and sewer infrastructure that needs renewal.

Between 2019 and 2049, Halifax Water plans to invest about $4 billion to upgrade infrastructure to ensure the continued delivery of high-quality water, wastewater and stormwater services to benefit our customers and the environment. Below are some of the projects currently underway at Halifax Water.

Mt. Edward Reservoir #1 Replacement

As part of our ongoing commitment to communicating with customers and the local community, Halifax Water would like to inform you that we are replacing the aging Mt. Edward Reservoir #1 (concrete) with a new steel reservoir. This work is part of the utility's 30-year, $4 billion investment commitment to improving aging water, wastewater and stormwater systems.
