Beginning the week of April 13th, 2020, Halifax Water and the Halifax Regional Municipality will be upgrading infrastructure on Federal Avenue, Romans Avenue, and McAlpine Avenue. Dexter Construction has been contracted to perform this work.
Halifax Water’s work will include installation of new water main and storm sewer. The municipality will be undertaking various street improvements including curb, gutter and new pavement work. See the map on the back of this notice for more project details.
We are working hard to ensure we keep the residents impacted by this work up-to-date on this project.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation, door to door delivery of construction information notices by Halifax Water or contractor staff is not possible. To make staying in-the-know as easy as possible, we have set up an email list for residents to sign up to receive future updates. Project updates typically come every two weeks. The only emails we will send are updates on this project. Your contact information will not be shared with anyone.

On Monday, February 24th, Halifax Water and Halifax Regional Municipality held a Community Information Session at the Halifax Independent School (3331 Connaught Avenue, Halifax). Staff from both organizations were on hand to answer questions. This session was available for anyone to come in and learn more about the impacts of this work.
From time to time, you will see workers within 2 metres of each other while they work to maintain the critical water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure serving your home. Every effort will be made to maintain the 2-metre distance amongst workers, however, some tasks cannot be completed safely otherwise. As an essential service, in these instances, Halifax Water and its contractors are exempt from the current 2-metre social/physical distancing rules. Halifax Water and its contractors will use additional PPE to protect themselves when undertaking these activities.
We ask that residents please ensure they give construction crews at least 2 metres of distancing as well.
