Halifax Water, through its contractor Dexter Construction is upgrading water main and storm sewer infrastructure on Federal Avenue, Romans Avenue and McAlpine Avenue.
Beginning the evening of Friday, July 24th at 6:00 PM, this work will require the closure of Romans Avenue between Federal Avenue and the intersection of Bayers Road. The two outbound lanes of Bayers Road, at the intersection of Romans Avenue, will be closed and the two inbound lanes converted to two way traffic. See the attached work area map. Work will continue on a 24-hour basis until approximately 5:00 AM Monday, July 27th. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
There will be no loss of water, wastewater or stormwater services.
Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site to help ensure smooth traffic flow. On-site personnel will also maintain communication with local residents and businesses to help minimize disruption. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes and expect delays. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.
For the safety of work crews and residents, please maintain social/physical distancing requirements of at least 2 metres/6 feet.
We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure improvement work may cause.
