UPDATE – Please note this work will now begin on April 14th.

Beginning on April 7, 2025 and continuing until approximately June 6, 2025, Dexter Construction, on behalf of Halifax Water and HRM, will complete street capitalization and intersection upgrades at the intersection of Alderney Drive and Dundas Street as part of the Sawmill Creek Stormwater Project.

During this project, the following traffic control will be in place:

  • Outbound lanes will be closed on Alderney Drive from Portland Street to Portland Street

    • Traffic will primarily be detoured via Portland Street
  • Alderney Drive from King Street to Portland Street (inbound direction) will remain open
  • Canal Street, between Portland Street and 11 Canal Street will remain closed
  • This work will impact Halifax Transit routes. For more information about Halifax Transit disruptions, visit halifax.ca/transit.

See map for further details.

Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site to manage traffic flows.

Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.
