The Halifax Regional Water Commission (Halifax Water) hereby gives notice that a submission has been added to the Common Project Search (online registry) pursuant to the Canadian Navigable Waters Act described herein and its description.

Pursuant to paragraph 4.1 and 9.1 of the said Act, AECOM Canada (on behalf of Halifax Water) has deposited with the Minister of Transport, on the on-line Common Project Search Registry (http://cps.canada.ca/) and under registry number TO BE PROVIDED, a description of the following work:

Replacement of the existing outfall pipe from the Fairfield Holding tank at 1660 Fairfield Avenue to approximately 60 metres from the existing seawall into the Northwest Arm discharging below sea level.

The Fairfield Holding Tank Outfall Pipe Replacement project, commissioned by Halifax Water, addresses critical infrastructure needs following the identified failure of the existing outfall pipe.

In 2023 a sinkhole emerged along the alignment of the existing outfall pipe indicating that the outfall pipe’s integrity was failing.  The outfall replacement project is currently in design stage and construction is anticipated for the year of 2026.

This public notice is posted at Halifax, Nova Scotia on the 11th of September 2025.
