Update - Waverley Road Water Main Repair - Precautionary Boil Water Advisory in Effect for Customers Impacted Effective Immediately
Advisory impacts customers in the communities of Waverly Road, Spider Lake, Montague Road, Keystone Village, Port Wallace, Montebello, Craigwood Estates, and Avenue du Portage.
Halifax Water is advising customers impacted by the Waverley Road Water Main Repair on December 6, 2025, to boil their drinking water effective immediately.
This impacts customers along Waverly Road, Spider Lake, Montague Road, Keystone Village, Port Wallace, Montebello, Craigwood Estates, and Avenue du Portage. (See map of the affected area below)
As water is restored to this area, and, if after 1:00 PM December 6, 2025;
- you had no water – boil before use
- you have/had discoloured - run clear before use
- you have/had normal or low pressure – no action required
- you are unsure – boil before use
If a customer determines that their property is within the impacted area Halifax Water is advising these customers that the water can still be used; however, it should be boiled for at least 1 minute before using water for:
- drinking
- preparing infant formula
- making ice cubes or juices
- washing fruits or vegetables
- cooking
- brushing teeth; or
- any other activity requiring human consumption.

This boil water advisory is precautionary and based on the prolonged loss of pressure resulting from a watermain break. The Boil Water Advisory is issued as a result of permit requirements through Nova Scotia Environment and Climate Change (NSECC).
Halifax Water continues to monitor the water quality and is closely consulting with NSECC and the Medical Officer of Health.
UPDATED PSA: 9:00 PM on December 6, 2025.
Halifax Water crews are continuing work on the emergency water main repair on Waverley Road, Dartmouth. This work will continue overnight, and there is currently no approximate completion time.
Customers in the area may experience no water or a reduction in water pressure during this repair. No estimate of service restoration time.
Waverley Road between Jaybe Drive and Breeze Drive is open to local traffic only. Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site to manage traffic flows.
Please note that crews will be conducting emergency service locates for gas and electricity infrastructure in the area. This work will ensure crews remain safe during the repair.
Customers in the area may experience discoloured water during/following this repair. It is recommended that those customers run the COLD water at one faucet until the water runs clear. To learn more about discoloured water and to report it, please visit www.halifaxwater.ca/discoloured-water.
Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.
