Attention motorists, Dexter Construction, on behalf of Halifax Water will be completing water main and pavement restoration work in the intersection of Oxford Street and Coburg Road from Friday, May 24th until Sunday, May 26th.
This work will require the closure of the intersection of Coburg Road and Oxford Street from Friday, May 24th at 6 PM until Sunday, May 26th at 6 PM (see work zone map). During this time, the intersection will be impassible to vehicles. There will be no water service disruptions as a result of this work.
There will be local traffic only in the vicinity of the work zone. Driveway access will be maintained. Some Metro Transit routes are affected by the intersection closure. Metro Transit has posted detour information on bus stops signs in the affected detour zone. Access to Coburg Road west of Oxford Street will be via a temporary road (see work zone map).
Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site to ensure smooth traffic flow of pedestrians and cyclists around the work zone. On-site personnel will also maintain communication with local residents and businesses to help minimize disruption. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and expect delays. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.
