Attention motorists and cyclists, Eastern Trenchless, on behalf of Halifax Water, will be undertaking wastewater system maintenance through cure-in-place-pipe (CIPP) trenchless lining technology.
This work will take place on Monday, June 15 to Friday, June 19 (weather dependent.) Work will go on for approximately 22 hours per day, with roads reopening from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM each morning. Rain dates: Monday, June 22 to Friday, June 26, 2020.
This work requires lane drops/closures in the intersection of Bayers Road & Connaught Avenue, there will be marked detours around this intersection. This work also requires closures for Young Street, Cork Street, Liverpool Street, London Street, Edinburgh Street and Almon Street for the block that meets Connaught Avenue (see attached map.) Sidewalks and crosswalks will remain open and operational.
CIPP lining involves reinforcing the inside of ageing underground pipes with a fabric liner that is saturated with a resin and then cured using UV light. This process is significantly less intrusive to traffic than traditional open-trench excavations for pipe replacement work that would otherwise need to be done.
Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones. Pedestrian traffic will not be impacted.
There will be no loss of water, wastewater, or stormwater services.
For the safety of work crews and residents, please maintain social/physical distancing requirements of at least 2 metres/6 feet.
We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure improvement work may cause.
