On September 30, Halifax Water will observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (NDTR) to recognize and commemorate the tragic history and ongoing legacy of residential schools and to honour their survivors, their families and communities. This day has been recognized by the Governments of Canada and Nova Scotia as well as Halifax Regional Municipality as an important step in the reconciliation process.
As part of our commitment to respecting the NDTR, Halifax Water offices will be closed on September 30. While we observe this day of reflection, we also want to assure our customers that we remain committed to serving them and will be operating with a smaller group of core critical staff.
Halifax Water will continue to respond to and address any urgent water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure matters. Our Customer Care Centre Emergency Line remains open 24/7 at 902-420-9287.
We remain focused on making progress on truth and reconciliation for our employees, our stakeholders and our community members.
