Beginning at 7:00 AM on Saturday, July 5, and continuing 2:00 AM on Monday, July 7 (weather dependent), the following traffic impacts will be in place for wastewater system maintenance:
- Local traffic only on Bayers Road between Connolly Street and Connaught Avenue in two the outbound lanes. See map for further details.
- Detours in place via Roslyn Road.
- Left outbound lane reduction on Bayers Road near the Connolly Street intersection.
- Sidewalks will remain open.
This work will not impact Halifax Water services in the area.
Eastern Trenchless, on behalf of Halifax Water, will be undertaking wastewater system maintenance through cure-in-place-pipe (CIPP) trenchless lining technology.
CIPP lining involves reinforcing the inside of ageing underground pipes with a fabric liner that is saturated with resin and then cured using UV light or steam. This process is significantly less intrusive to traffic than traditional open-trench excavations for pipe replacement work that would otherwise need to be done.
Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.
We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure improvement work may cause.
To ensure the safety of our communities and our staff, please maintain a safe distance when Halifax Water staff or contractors are working in your area.
