Late Monday night, Halifax Water and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 227 reached a tentative agreement.
The agreement still needs to be ratified by CUPE Local 227 members and approved by the Halifax Water Board.
Halifax Water General Manager Carl Yates said, “This tentative agreement is great news for our customers and our valued employees. CUPE Local 227 members and the utility are now better able to plan for the future.”
CUPE 227 President Martin Austin says, “I would like to thank our bargaining team and union representatives for their commitment and hard work. I would also like to thank our membership for their support throughout this process.”
Details of the agreement will not be released until both sides have ratified the agreement.
