As part of our ongoing commitment to inform customers and the local community, Halifax Water would like to update you about some upcoming work that will take place along a section of Dublin Street, Halifax.
Halifax Water is replacing the aging water distribution system on Dublin Street between Cork Street and Berlin Street, Halifax. This work is part of the utility's 30-year, $4 billion investment commitment to improving aging water, wastewater and stormwater systems. By replacing aging sections of the water distribution system, the water supply that serves your community will be more resilient and reliable for decades to come. Halifax Water will also be working with the contractor to replace any existing lead service lines within this project area. Any customers with lead service lines will be contacted separately.
During this project, HALIFAX is also completing street renewal on Dublin Street between Bayers Road and Willow Street. Construction work related to the street renewal generally consists of full depth removal and replacement of asphaltic concrete, granular placement and resurfacing, removal of existing concrete curb and gutter and installation of new concrete curb and gutter, sidewalk renewal and curb extensions, existing catchbasin adjustments, manhole cover replacements, stormwater improvements including installation of a new catchbasin and catchbasin lead, pavement marking application, installation of traffic calming measures including one (1) mini traffic circle at the intersection of Dublin Street and Liverpool Street, five (5) speed tables at various locations on Dublin Street, landscaping and all other associated reinstatement and incidentals.
Dexter Construction will be completing this integrated project on behalf of Halifax Water and HALIFAX. The safety of staff, contractors, and the public is our top priority during this work.
To ensure the safety of our communities and our staff, please maintain a safe distance when Halifax Water staff or contractors are working in your area.
Construction is scheduled to start in June 2022 and is expected to continue into November/December 2022.
