Halifax Water is advising motorists and cyclists that beginning at 7:00 AM on Monday, October 30, a section of Hammonds Plains Road, near Yankeetown Road will be closed for approximately 10 days for a cross culvert replacement. This critical stormwater infrastructure, which enables water to flow beneath Hammonds Plains Road, was damaged during the extreme rain and flooding this past July.
While this work is underway and for the duration of the project, traffic on this section of Hammonds Plains Road will detour through Yankeetown Road.
Traffic control personnel will be on-site to ensure the safety of the public throughout the closure.
Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.
We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure repair work may cause.
