Halifax Water is investing in improvements to the critical stormwater infrastructure in this area by replacing a large stormwater management cross-culvert that allows stormwater to flow beneath Hammonds Plains Road.
This culvert is approaching the end of its useful life and must be replaced to ensure the efficient flow of stormwater and protect the integrity of this critical roadway. This project will add further resilience and reliability to the stormwater system that serves the community.
This work is part of the utility's 30-year, $4 billion investment commitment to improving aging water, wastewater and stormwater systems.
Starting the week of June 20, Halifax Water will be replacing a critical cross culvert on Hammonds Plains Road between Yankeetown Road and Wallace Hill Road. Halifax Water and our contractor, Dexter Construction, will work to complete this project as efficiently as possible over a 6-8 week period.
Traffic will be stop-and-go through the work area for the duration of this work. Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.
