As part of our ongoing commitment to communicating with customers and the local community, Halifax Water would like to inform you that we are installing a new pressure-reducing valve (PRV) chamber on Gallery Crescent, in order to improve the resiliency of the water distribution system in Middle and Lower Sackville. This work is part of the utility's 30-year, $4 billion investment commitment to improving aging water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
Dexter Construction will be completing this project on behalf of Halifax Water. The safety of staff, contractors, and the public is our top priority during this work.
To ensure the safety of our communities and our staff, please maintain a safe distance when Halifax Water staff or contractors are working in your area.
The work is expected to take place between late June and August. Typical hours of work will be 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
This work will involve excavation in the street and right of way to install the new chamber and reconnect to the existing water main. Following the installation, the work areas will be restored – including repaving the impacted sections of the street and any impacted property. See the attached map for the entire project area. Traffic control personnel will be on-site during this construction to manage traffic flows.
During this work, customers in the project area may experience temporary water service disruptions. The contractor will provide advance notice to the impacted customers for any planned water service interruptions. Wastewater and stormwater services will continue throughout this work.
