Beginning on Monday, May 2, the intersection of South Park Street and University Avenue will be closed for critical water infrastructure improvements. See the attached map for full traffic impacts.

Traffic Advisory – South Park Street & University Avenue Area – Infrastructure Upgrades

Detours will be in place during this work. Traffic control personnel will be on-site during this construction to accommodate the flow of emergency vehicles and manage local traffic. Transit route detours are expected within the project area. Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones. There will be cycle lane and pedestrian route detours through/around this work.

As part of this work, Halifax Water is replacing aging water mains and separating stormwater discharge from the wastewater system around South Park Street and University Avenue.

This project is part of the utility's 30-year, $4 billion investment commitment to improving aging water, wastewater and stormwater systems.

We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure repair work may cause.

To ensure the safety of our communities and our staff, please maintain a safe distance when Halifax Water staff or contractors are working in your area.
