Halifax Water and Dexter Construction Ltd. wish to advise water customers in the area of Bayers Road between Oxford Street and Windsor Street that the water will be turned off for construction activities Monday, April 20, from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM. See the outage area map on the back of this notice. This water service shutdown is being undertaken by Dexter Construction as part of their demolition of the former RCMP building on Oxford Street.
The work is weather dependent, and an alternate water shutdown date of Tuesday, April 21, will be used if unable to perform the work on Monday, April 20.
Customers should ensure they have sufficient water during this period by filling any empty containers for toilet flushing, hand washing, drinking, cooking and other hygiene purposes.
We also suggest the following:
- Turn off your hot water tank to prevent back-siphonage that can lead to damage.
- Businesses/buildings with sprinkler systems should notify their sprinkler system monitoring agent of the shutdown so they are aware of the loss of pressure, which may trigger alarms.
- Contact your insurance company to notify them of the sprinkler system shutdown during this period.
Halifax Water and Dexter Construction regrets any inconvenience caused while this necessary work is being carried out and appreciates your cooperation. We understand these are challenging times and will work diligently to minimize the disruption time.
If you have any questions or unique water use needs, please contact Francois Banville from Dexter Construction at 902-835-3381 (office) or 902-240-0706 (mobile).
