Halifax Water is accepting applications for one (1) GIS Summer Student in the Corporate Services Department, for the summer months from approximately May to August 2025. This opportunity is open to students who have been in full time attendance at an educational institution in the preceding scholastic year and are enrolled in a full-time program for the coming year.  Applicants must include with their resume, documentation from the educational institution confirming registration and acceptance for the upcoming year.  Returning students will be limited to a maximum of three (3) summers in order to allow the same opportunity to other potential candidates. 
 

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate’s duties may include tasks such as: 

  • Service record data entry through custom form-based application; service record quality control.
  • Data quality improvements.
  • Research of GIS asset/engineering drawing relationships; engineering information metadata entry.  
  • Assist with the testing of field collection methods, field workflows and reporting tools.
  • Assist with field data collection as required.
  • Exposure to working in a large GIS service group in a utility environment.
