Under the direction of the Supervisor, perform labour and maintenance for the building, grounds, equipment comprising the Plant Operations facilities.
- Carry out janitorial duties in and around water supply plant buildings. This shall include, but not be limited to, cleaning of floors, washrooms, offices, windows. The Plant Supervisor will establish a schedule of cleaning duties that will be completed at a prescribed frequency, which may be modified to accommodate events at the plant.
- Carry out upkeep of roads, grounds, walkways and buildings, and performs other assigned duties. Typical duties include snow removal and ice control, lawn mowing, planting, raking, weeding etc.
- When assigned by the Plant Supervisor, load and unload deliveries, including treatment chemicals. Carry out other miscellaneous tasks as required, such as pick up and deliveries, escorting contractors.
- Assist in the maintenance of equipment associated with water supply plant facilities. Perform general labour duties such as moving materials, rigging, clean-up and assist Operators with maintenance duties.
- Perform duties as prescribed for the position as defined in the plant’s ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Perform other related duties as required.
Supervisor, Wastewater Treatment
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Grade 12 or NS Department of Education equivalent.
Experience:
- Previous related experience in the areas of building and industrial facility maintenance. Experience in the maintenance of mechanical equipment (ie: lawn mower/edgers/snow blowers) would be an asset.
Certificates / Licenses / Registrations:
- NS Class 5 Drivers License in good standing.
- Must be willing to undertake and maintain current certification in confined space, transportation of dangerous goods and other required courses.
- WHMIS, First Aid
- Must be prepared to wear protective clothing and equipment required for specific situations involved.
- Must be willing to undergo immunization treatments, and any personal health condition checks which may be required.
- Willingness to undertake and successfully complete related training.
- Ability to regularly perform physically demanding labour work.
