Deposits

Some applicants may be required to send a deposit in order to obtain a service request. The deposit is equal to the estimated charges for six months of service.

If a deposit is required you will be notified by email.

Rental Property Account Changes Effective July 13, 2026

Effective July 13, 2026, Halifax Water accounts for rented or leased properties must be held by the property owner or landlord. New tenant accounts will no longer be opened, and tenants should contact their landlord or property owner regarding water account and billing matters.

In submitting this form the customer acknowledges and agrees to the following conditions :

The applicant agrees to take and pay for water, wastewater and stormwater service from Halifax Water in accordance with this application and to accept and pay for such services according to the Schedule of Rates, Rules and Regulations of Halifax Water.

There is a $25.00 charge for the creation of an account which will be applied to your first bill. A security deposit may be required.
