Clean Water Works, on behalf of Halifax Water, will be undertaking wastewater system maintenance through cure-in-place-pipe (CIPP) trenchless lining technology. The following traffic impacts will be in place for this wastewater system maintenance in Lower Sackville:

From 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Saturday, December 13:

  • There will be stop-and-go traffic on Metropolitan Avenue between Glendale Drive and Lydgate Drive
  • There will be stop-and-go traffic on Glendale Drive between Raymond Drive and Metropolitan Avenue

From 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, December 14:

  • There will be stop-and-go traffic on Glendale Drive near the intersection of Pinehill Drive

Halifax Transit bus stops will be impacted by this work. Halifax Transit detour information will be posted. Please visit the Halifax Transit Service Disruption website here for more information.

This work will not impact Halifax Water services in the area.

CIPP lining involves reinforcing the inside of ageing underground pipes with a fabric liner that is saturated with resin and then cured using UV light or steam. This process is significantly less intrusive to traffic than traditional open-trench excavations for pipe replacement work that would otherwise need to be done.

Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.

We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure improvement work may cause.

To ensure the safety of our communities and our staff, please maintain a safe distance when Halifax Water staff or contractors are working in your area.
